October 11 & 26, 2008 Contact: Ramon Hernandez 201-206-2705 ramon@northjerseyjudo.com (North Bergen, NJ) – Athletes competed in the Tech Judo Mini Judo Invitational Tournament this weekend. Jeff Devor went undefeated for 2 matches to claim first place at this tournament. Jeff won his first match by full point throw using Uchimata (inner thigh throw). He’s second match was a pin which one him the match as well. This is Jeff’s second tournament in less then 4 months. _________________________________
(Cranford, NJ) – Athletes from all areas of New Jersey and some from New York competed in the Cranford Judo Invitational Tournament this weekend.
Charlie Cunningham (Team North Jersey Judo) took 3rd place in the 225 point division winning 2 out of 4 matches. In route to a third place finish Charlie was able to defeat 2 brown belts both out weighing Charlie by 20 pounds. Both of Charlie’s wins came by Ippons one being a full point throw and the other by pin. Bill Paranto (Team North Jersey Judo) also competed in the 225 point division and came away with 2 out of 4 both by full point throws using left side shoulder throw for the instant win on both matches. Both competitors did very well at this tournament and have done well this year in tournament. Both are preparing for the North East Judo Championship in Paterson, NJ.
