For Immediate Release Nov 18, 2007 Contact: Ramon Hernandez 201-206-2705 ramon@northjerseyjudo.com (Cranford, NJ) – Athletes from all areas of New Jersey and some from New York competed in the Cranford Judo Invitational Tournament this weekend. Connor Richard (Team North Jersey Judo) won his first match pinning his opponent for a full point using Kesa Gatame (Scarf Hold). Richard then faced 2 very experienced Judokas in the rest of the tournament eliminating him from medal contention. Ken Carmichael (Team North Jersey Judo) took 1st place in his division. Carmichael won his first match by getting ahead on points and managed to maintain his lead. Carmichael then threw his second opponent for a full point throw using Ippon Seoinage which was an instant win. Going into this tournament Carmichael came off a 1st place finish after competing in the State of Maryland this past Labor Day weekend. Carmichael put together 4 wins to take home his very first gold medal in a Judo tournament. Notes from Coach: Connor Richard did very well for his first outing at a Judo tournament. Connor is a very smart student and I look forward to coaching him at future events to come. Ken Carmichael also did very well and is turning into a Judo junky. Ken puts a lot of effort in studying the game of Judo and does his part to plan well before and in between matches.
