Sport Competition Judo - For Kids,
Teens & Adults
Judo as some might already know is
an Olympic sport that was invented back in 1883
by Jigaro Kano and was introduced into the
Olympics in the 1964 Tokyo Summer Games. Judo is
governed on the world wide level by the
International Judo Federation (IJF). The IJF has
a scientific approach to competitive Judo
especially with regard to rule changes unlike
most martial arts organizations that govern
their sport. The IJF uses statistics to gage who
is winning, how they are winning, what
techniques are being scored the most and what’s
going to make our sport more exciting. As soon
as the IJF see penalties and rules dominating
decisions in our sport the IJF will step in and
change the rules so Judo athletes and great
technique are in control of deciding who the
winner is. The IJF is not an organization that
makes changes quickly. They will analyze,
inspect, discuss changes and a vote is made to
make a decision for the improvement of
competitive Judo. All in all the pure Judo fans
want our competitive Olympic Sport to be
dominated by fantastic throws, great dynamic
action and sound ground techniques. On the World
Wide level Judo is the 3rd most played sport in
the world Soccer being # 1 which shows you that
Judo isn’t a small martial art. The classes held
at North Jersey Judo under our Sport Competition
Judo course description follows all the
requirements and rules handed down by the IJF.
That being said anyone representing Team North
Jersey Judo is fully trained on how to compete
along with what is acceptable during a Judo
match at any local, regional or national
competition. Please check out class schedule for
our Sport Competition Judo classes for kids and
adults.
